Dakchin Kali !!!!!

With a sudden plan, on the night of tika .. Sasmit and I planned going Daskchin Kali once more. Rubin Mama was there with us and he agreed to give his cycle for the day ... :) 11th Oct 2011 was a Tuesday, and it was a government holiday for Ojagrath Purnima, the last day of tika. It was great oppurtunity for me utilize my holiday, and Sasmit was free for that day.

It was the first destination, that began our cycling short tours. We did on Dashain Tika back then too. But this time it was different, we did have much plans. It was decided at 8 pm, and we began our journey at 8am tomorrow morning. We had no preparation except our last experiences, nor did we have time to inform any others. Since, it was my 3rd time and Sasmits second, we were very confident about the trail.

Chobar's Temple from the bridge
The roads to Dakchinkali is peached till the end, number of shops in the road. Availability of pubic transportation too. Nice view of Kathmandu Valley from the Dakchin Side, the roads not that tough, not too long either. If any one would like to start a cycling trip Dakchinkali is good to began with.

We did our packing early on the morning, and we left from Kwalkhu at 8. Clear blue sky, the temperature was not hot either, great day, for cycling. We bought some JewanJal, Dettols, Handiplast, Cottons etc, since we didn't have any air pumps or tools we did our tires check at shop we passed by. Sasmit got a small camera of 5 mega pixel, with 128 mb memory. It was good enought for us to capture some of our memories.

Where Sasmit fell last time
We entered through Ekantakuna towards BahishepSati and down to chobar.
The journey reminded us our last tours, the places we took our pictures, the steep that Sasmit fell, the workshop where Dhiraj mend his tyres, the resting shade where we took our photo with Avay's red jacket, with Nepal on it. Also the slopes where I had to discuss with Sanjay for taking too many photo breaks, Samyam actually had started running way from sanjay.. :D, Monish came up with a slogan "Just give up" with ale supporting him. Rasuj speed run with the skooter, Rewaz's jeans ride ... all the memories started come back.
dge
Milk Tea, Egg and Chana
The same old Tea shop
We had tea at the same place. Prawesh'z egg magic, came to mind. Having tea, is there places feel different, we took Egg, Chana and Milk Tea. With jewan jal, ready on our bottles .. we hit the ground. Again the routes brought back memories, the places we rested.. the stop where isha, pravesh and krishna took the bus with there cycle .. It also showed that we were really better in cycling, we previously were. Also we had lot better cycles and it made a huge difference. We didn't have walk a slope, we took lot few rest .. may be 4 on the max. Even after shopping and breakfast we made to Daskchinkali at 11. We took a wrong turn, so had to go down the stairs to climb down. Which we previously used to cheat the slopes.

It was Dashain time, and Daskin Kali had a huge line. Locked our cycles, went to temple. The line was too long we clicked few pics, did our puja from the outside. ThShopey say if you ask for others, it will happen so we prayed god for the frauds, माता ।। भ्रष्ट्रचारीलाई किरा परोस .

After puja we left for lunch. On the way we made frends with the parking guy "Krishna" .Who was so pleased with the T-Shirt i was wearing, he gave me extra khuwa :). It was popular at the temple too, could see people smile reading those lines. The health post provided us with free water and jewanjal. The lunch was delicious. Dal, Bhat, Kauli & Alu Tarkari, Kukhura Ko mashu, Dahi, Anda .. but no Sag.

Sorry part of the temple was that there was no garbage managment at all. The people threw it on community forest and depended on bottle collectors to collect it. The river was dirty too, people brough too many flowers and all of them were thrown on the river. Hope we Nepalese could be more responsible. Not to forget it seemed the tourist visited the temple to see the sacrifice.

Previously we would skip the first slope on return. We had the same plans, since we just had our lunch. But after we took on the cycle, we crossed the slope though it felt lot longer, then earlier.  We took time to enjoy the pond, the road after pharphing was downwards, it felt like achievement. We were lucky there were bamboo swings. It is said the bamboo swings are build because ppl should leave a ground atleast once a year.  We dont have bamboo swings in our area, we tried our best, and we had fun.
It was a great day, we had fun, we cheered our memories. We used to go cycling in the streets of Lalitpur in our childhood, in search of new streets. Yesterdays cycling was a different level. Thanx Sasmit for being there. Cheers!! for both of us. We will continue our thirst for adventure, and hope it gets better. And more friends will join us.

हाम्रो देश हाम्रो दाइत्व ।। Sohrakhutee Cleaning

Cheers to All Of Us  13 Aug 2011

Well, I think we did a great job. We cleaned the pillars, level the floor the work surely was tougher then we originally planed. We surely should be proud our self. But the work is not finished yet. More works to be done, I see is clean walls and paint. Also, make sure it stays clean. I also don't have any idea how could we could clean the roof.(any ideas???)

I truly learned many things from this experience and hope you all did too. We really were less prepared, but the club really help by providing shovels, and thanx Stuti Basnyet dd for the brushes. I really missed the video camera today, sharing our experience surely would have motivate others to do the same.

The local clubs seems to be interested to join hands so we need to talk to them, and make clear how they really can help or what way type of help. They are truly the ones that can maintain it, hope we could arrange some flooring materials from them.So planning to talk to talk with local clubs, ward office, kmc and the college within this week. (If you are interested to join the meeting post below).

Let's try building up the feeling "हाम्रो देश हाम्रो दाइत्व "
P.S: If you clicked some photos or videos plz share it in the group. And please write write your feeling good or bad here.

Updates Sorakhutte Cleanup Program - 11th August 2011:

Trying to build up a local support for the program :
1) Talked with the Ward Secretary. They were very glad we were doing the program. Also present were the members of society and they were interested in helping. If we can clean and paint they will provide budget for fixing the roof. They asked for a official meeting from our side in there office where we could talk to the community members.
2) I had meet with traffic voluntary(Jayaprakash) who was member in building the temple and he was interested to be there.
3) Besides that Thamel Club Secretary said he will support with 5 jars of waters, and have asked Thamel Tourism Board Members to there, they have promised to put it on there meeting today. I am trying to contact Guthi Memebers of the community, could not contact Naresh Prasad Shrestha sir he was not there in office.

UPDATES Sorakhute Cleaning - 10th August 2011:

Well, i couldn't visit the ward office today reached there after 5, the office was closed. It seemed Sorakhutee needs more than cleaning the pillars. The roof was लेउ लागेको and cracked in few places. The floor too was not flat. Well we will not be able to manage all the finance, for the first time but lets start with small cleaning the pillar and coloring it. Stuti Basnyet didi have said we could reuse the brushes used at Bagmati. Sorakhute pillars seems to have lack of love and care. It has historical meaning but many ppl pass it daily don't even know it exist. Temple side by was getting reconstructed too hope they could help with the flooring. So i am planning to meet the head of the temple reconstruction committee hoping to get some support. Also will need to talk to the Guthi responsible for 16 khute too, well not necessary for cleaning but for more .. it's required. Sorry couldn't add photos due to lack of camera but Mahendra Gurung will post them tomorrow. Please people i would like to have your feedback.

Initiation- 9th August 2011.:

We are talking about big things but we can't start with a small thing .. wow, where did i hear that before .. ohh ya the political parties .. :) .. well if are some different join hands .. lets clean up a small place "Sorahakhute" .. which is close to our college, and we pass them most of the time .. it has a historical significance .. can we spend a few hours a week to clean it up??????

Letter to Common Youth Stand Up!!

What is the Next Plan to Forward??????

Well to go forward what we need is to be clear what we want??? or say how will we succeed??  Is more mass.. meaning more ppl need join the cause .. with understanding ..  because More the mass  the stronger we are . and stronger are our voices and more seriously they will heard and act upon ... So the plan surly should be how to get the mass????

I suggest the plan be " Patience and Continuous struggle",  We need more 'Stamina' .. for that we need regular exercise ... can we will get the constitution if we fight for the 45 days ???.. or we feel the term is going to be extended? .. and will we get a better nepal once constitution is build ?? No .. I feel it's just the beginning .. if our final target is have a Better Nepal ...lets say "Nepal+"  :) .. Stamina .. and make sure the ppl joining know why they are here for .. but i some are trying to blind folded bring ppl** .. for the sake of masses..

Take Your Steps carefully don't rush .. it's not speed that will make us win it's the stamina... Well it will surely generate money faster when you show "Delly Belly" instead of show at "Gurukul" **.. but in the longer run it will bite back ..

Well the statement might bring 2 things to your mind
1. I brought the same argument back which was already passed.
2. I might feel like Anti indian..

1- About the bringing the argument back to life . well i hope to have a better understanding with each other by making our feeling open and minds clear.

2-  i may look like a  anti Indian .. but look closer.. i fell like a child holding a stone for Self Defence .. कुनै बच्चा आफ्नो सुर्कक्षाको लागी दुङ्गा उचाल्छ तपाईलाई aggressiveness लाग्न सक्छ तर मलाई त्यो self defense लाग्दछ ।।  .. infact i am greatly influence by Gandhi .. but that doesn't mean i go wear the 'dhoti' made in india .. i take it locally and chose a 'dhaka' build here in Nepal ....  Media is powerful, and it will be surely great use we had a powerful one .. so help it grow .. If ppl could provide half the money they spend to vote for Prashant Tamang in India, to fund Nepali Tara .. we could have many youths motivated to get their courier into it .. Well it didn't bring influence of Nepali Songs to India .. instead it brought Indian Idols popular here in Nepal ..........

Got carried away,Let's get back to the topic... "People don't come to you, then you may need to Go to them "......

The message is already out and many many Nepalese are getting aware of the event .. we are seeing new faces but the masses are not growing like it should .. well we could surely have huge masses filling basantapur square if we had week long bandha... ppl will join if they think its the only way out ... BUT!!!!!

We must understand why ppl are not joining .. (beside few) , humans are social animals and they would be more comfortable if they joined in groups ... they would like to be control .. besides blindly following .. they would love to leave a mark .. Bring them up in groups would be a good idea ..

"MORE WORK, LESS TALK" : We say that, most ppl are not supporting the movement, but instead they are pointing faults .. but when ever i see the rallies it feels the group is motivating those thoughts .. ppl are asked to come on stage and say what they want .. so they go on SCOLDING usually n mostly.. many friends asked me wats the differences here???? .. Doesn't it sound the same where Neta's scold others and weave dreams that is not delivered?? where is the work?? ..

So, instead we should have more programs with causes "Like cleaning the bridge", "Together with Maiti Nepal for Our sisters stopping sisters getting sold in Indian brothels", "There was No Hunger program in Civil Mall.. It would be great we would have joined" ...many many more  .. find clubs, organization and join them ... they will be glad there voice being heard and we helped with the masses .... feel being a part of the group, they will too join us later on .. There are lots of things that need to be done .. many ppl are doing their part .. if we could join hands .. the goal could be easier to acheive ... ACTION SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS ..

 * Just my thoughts .. have lot in my mind lately.. which i will like to clear up, need more time ..  i look forward to negative comments .. it helps me opening eyes to parts .. i have missed or got it wrong ...

Cycling - 02-April - 2011

We originally planned our cycling as "destination Chisapani".  This not the first time we talked about it's possibilities, but since we being hearing it to be a Night stay, we have been keeping it for later. But after Abay's bike tour there, with his encouragement we said go ahead.

Looked over the web for Chisapani, put status on social networks about the tour, No matter how hard it be, or due time restrain we may have to return from the way, but we were determined to go. However, after special request from Sanjay (who will be back this Sunday at 8 pm :) ) and Prabil (due to busy schedule couldn't join us) not to go there without them .. we have decided to alter our path and without cancelling it, since Riwaj & Rasuj has cancelled their picnics, Saurav didn't join the rafting .. It wouldn't be nice to cancel the cycling plan .. ..

Avay's asked to write down the old cycling dairies, reminds me of how it started, which began with Sanjay wanting to go Dakchinkali, others wanted a picnic or a tour. and I was against bike ride..... Hence, we(Avay, Sanjay and Me)settled and Our cycling tours began....

Reminds of Friends who could join us this time, due to various reasons:

Planning for Chisapani

As i go through the Web searching for information about Chisapani ..

Google Maps:
Chisapani on the Top

Source: BikingFirst.com

CHISAPANI
Grade: Difficult Distance: 55 km Departs: Daily

The ride to Chisapani is a true mountain bikers trail with a steep off road climb that will challenge the fittest of riders. Climb up through typical Tamang villages and over grazing land. Steeply terraced corn fields line the trail. Follow a small river along its course and through the jungle and wet lands before re joining a rugged jeep track. Chisapani is a simple village that marks the entrance to Langtang and Helambhu Trekking. The tea houses are simple but he views are incredible. The second day is a downhill romp through the jungle back to Kathmandu.

As we don't plan to stay their overnight and we are not professionals but beginners ... It's really gonna be tough
